Common Issues
Steps aren't tracking
- Make sure you've granted HealthKit permissions when prompted
- Check that Motion & Fitness is enabled in Settings → Privacy & Security → Motion & Fitness
- Verify that Walk & Gather has permission to read steps in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices
- Try force-quitting and reopening the app
My progress isn't syncing
- Ensure you have an active internet connection
- Game progress syncs automatically every 30 seconds while the app is open
- If using multiple devices, make sure you're signed in with the same account (currently anonymous; future: Sign in with Apple)
Walk animation is too sensitive / not sensitive enough
- The app uses your device's accelerometer to detect walking motion in real-time
- Sensitivity may vary based on how you carry your device (pocket, hand, bag)
- If you're experiencing issues, please email us with your device model and iOS version
I want to delete my account
- Deleting the app does not delete your cloud save data
- To permanently delete your account and all associated data, email hello@walkandgather.com with "Account Deletion Request" in the subject line
- We'll process your request within 7 business days
